The big inspirations for this mech design derive from three sources. Two big inspirations come from anime shows Zoids and Gundam. These shows have both achieve the main things I want to achieve with my mechs. Mobility and style. Though Zoids mech derive from animal designs, they still bare all the designs of a common mech.
Zoids are very intricate in design because are a underlying body thats made of a body frame, pipes, hydraulics, bolts, wires, and tubes. This underlying frame is covered with armor pieces that give the overall look of the mech. Th armor pieces are fitted in ways that dont restrain the movements of each zoid but still providing cover to the crucial components. Every zoid is built with this structure and I will utilize something similar in mine.
Gundams are my main inspiration in areas of aesthetics and proportions. I want to create my own look from using gundams as my guidelines.
This next week I will try to create my mech concept. I will try to freeform the concept rather than block out my drawings in maya. I have a strong visual sense of what I want to achieve and I think blocking out the design would waste more time instead of saving it.
I need to share the plot background to this project to help give the visual style. So here it is
Now i am working on gradually gathering a cohesive style for my project. I have been working on the concept to Mech Transporter called Haven and this is what I have so far.
Its a start but I would like to achieve something more mechanical and rugged. I think this vehicle is to clean to be created without the use of much industrial means.
This is where ill be tracking my progress for my thesis. My thesis project revolves around making assets for a 5 min animation called Omnivision. I have done a lot of writing on this idea and have put a lot of thought in it. Now I begin making the visual style of these assets
Environment - Vue asset created in proportions to Environment Layout
Ground Carrier - large ground vehicle for transporting mechs
Mech - piloted vehicles
Golem and Particles - golem using particles
